The Strategist at the Intersection

Career transition is not simply a professional event. It is a cultural one. I built RISE with Betty™ for the women who know the difference, and need a strategy that honours both.

"Most career transition advice is culturally neutral — which means it is also culturally incomplete."

The Story

Built from the inside of the experience.

This work is not theoretical. It is drawn from a career that crossed sectors, borders, and cultures, and from the specific expertise required to navigate each transition with precision.

I did not set out to become a career strategist. I set out to build a career, and in doing so I found the thing most transition frameworks quietly ignore: the cultural dimension of professional reinvention.

My own path started in medical laboratory science. It moved into logistics, then medical devices, then education and publishing, and finally out of corporate life altogether and into building this practice. Each of those moves was a transition I had to strategise my way through, usually while being told I was throwing away everything I had built.

I was not. I was carrying something I did not yet have language for.

Learning to name it is the origin of everything RISE with Betty™ now teaches.

Alongside that, I earned three degrees across three disciplines: a BSc in Medical Laboratory Science, an MBA in Strategic Leadership, and a PhD in Media and Communication. I worked remotely and in person with organisations based in Nigeria, the United States, Denmark, Germany, and Israel. I know from the inside what it means to build a career while carrying a cultural identity an organisation may not fully see, let alone value.

What I observed, again and again, across my own transitions and in the journeys of the women around me, was a consistent gap. The strategy was there. The cultural intelligence was missing. Women were being told to pivot, to rebrand, to ask for the promotion, with no acknowledgement of the invisible forces shaping how those moves would land.

The accent. The name. The assumption of difference. The dual standard.

RISE with Betty™ exists to close that gap. Not as a space for inspiration, but as a strategic resource: academic rigour, leadership experience, and cultural fluency, built for African professional women who are in a career transition or considering one.

The Difference

Why this work is different

The approach

Diagnostic, not decorative

Most career advice works at the surface: tactics, templates, scripts. This work goes underneath. Every transition has an invisible anatomy, and mapping it is the work. Strategy follows from the diagnosis, never the other way round.

The lens

Culture as the primary variable

Culture is not context here. It is the central analytical lens. Your accent, your name, your national origin, your dual identity: these are not obstacles to manage around. They are forces a complete strategy must account for, explicitly and intelligently.

The source

Lived expertise, not borrowed wisdom

Four sectors crossed, then a fifth move out of corporate life entirely. Three degrees across three disciplines. Organisations on three continents. The advice offered here was earned in the same rooms, on the same calls, across the same cultural boundaries you are navigating. That is not a detail. It is the foundation.

The Frameworks

Four frameworks. One journey.

They do not compete. They nest. Together they answer four questions: why a transition stalls, what is acting on it, how to move, and what to build.

Why it stalls

The Three Blind Spots

Three patterns quietly hold a transition in place.

  • Competence Attachment. Believing better work alone will create the opening.
  • The Security Illusion. Mistaking staying for safety, when stability and security are not the same thing.
  • Reputation Anchoring. A credibility built inside one system that may not travel beyond it.

What is acting on it

The Invisible Anatomy of Every Career Transition™

Eight structural forces are present in every transition, whether or not they are named. Each transition type carries a different anatomy.

  • Culture
  • Identity
  • Systemic Bias
  • Geography
  • Gender
  • Class & Educational Background
  • Age
  • Family & Relationship Load

How to move

The RISE Method™

The methodology for mapping and navigating a transition, in four stages.

R

Recognise

Identify exactly where you are: the strategic inflection point, the cultural dynamics in play, and the gap between your current positioning and your actual capability.

I

Interpret

Read the environment with precision. The cultural codes, the unspoken rules, and the structural factors shaping what comes next.

S

Strategise

Build the plan. Positioning, narrative, timing, and moves, with rigour and specificity, designed for your sector, your identity, and your destination.

E

Elevate

Execute, and step into the next level. Not by diminishing who you are, but by deploying the full range of what you bring.

What to build

The C.A.R.E. Framework™

Four self-development domains decide whether a transition succeeds by design or stalls by default.

  • Clarity. Knowing what you are actually moving towards.
  • Architecture. The systems and structures that make the move possible.
  • Resources. The energy, health, and relationships that carry it.
  • Execution. Turning the plan into repeated action.

C.A.R.E. is what you develop. The RISE Method™ is how you move.

Work Together

Ready to map the invisible anatomy of your next move?

Whether you are shifting sectors, leaving corporate employment, repositioning, returning after a pause, or making a global move, RISE with Betty™ offers the rigour your transition deserves.

Every career transition has an invisible anatomy. Most women are navigating it blind. The work of RISE with Betty™ is to change that.
