Framework, one of four

The RISE Method™

How to move.

The RISE Method™ is a four-stage methodology for navigating a career transition, developed by Dr. Betty Eziakor. The stages are Recognise, Interpret, Strategise, and Elevate. It treats a transition as a cultural event as much as a professional one, and it is the framework that turns a diagnosis into a sequence of moves. It is one of four frameworks used in the RISE with Betty™ practice, and it runs at two scales: sequencing a whole transition, and sequencing development inside each C.A.R.E. domain.

The four stages

Each stage answers a different question. Skipping one is the most common reason a transition stalls halfway.

  1. R

    Recognise

    Where am I, actually?

Identify the strategic inflection point, the cultural dynamics in play, and the gap between your current positioning and your actual capability. Recognition is not self-criticism. It is an accurate reading of the starting position, including the parts that are structural rather than personal.

  2. I

    Interpret

What is really going on here?

Read the environment with precision. The cultural codes, the unspoken rules, and the structural factors shaping what comes next. Two women in identical roles can face entirely different conditions, and strategy built without reading those conditions is guesswork.

  3. S

    Strategise

    What is the actual plan?

Build positioning, narrative, timing, and moves, with rigour and specificity, designed for your sector, your identity, and your destination. Specificity is the point. A plan that would work for anyone is a plan that has not accounted for you.

  4. E

    Elevate

How do I move without shrinking?

Execute, and step into the next level. Not by diminishing who you are to fit the room, but by deploying the full range of what you bring. Elevation that requires self-erasure is not elevation. It is relocation.

Where the RISE Method™ sits

It is one of four frameworks, not the whole system. Each answers a different question, and they nest rather than compete.

What to build

The C.A.R.E. Framework™

The four domains of self-development that carry the move.

The Three Blind Spots and the Invisible Anatomy™ produce the diagnosis. The RISE Method™ acts on it. The C.A.R.E. Framework™ builds the capacity to sustain it.

The method in practice

Nine free diagnostics are mapped to the four stages. Each one does the work of its stage on your specific situation.

The same four stages, at two scales

Everything above describes the RISE Method™ applied to a transition. It also runs one level down, inside each domain of the C.A.R.E. Framework™. Same four stages, different scale.

At transition scale

Recognise the inflection point. Interpret the environment. Strategise the move. Elevate into the next level. This is a transition, measured in months.

At domain scale

Recognise what is actually true in this domain. Interpret what it has cost. Strategise what to build. Elevate by naming one action before the week ends. This is development, measured in weeks.

This is not an analogy laid over the curriculum. Each of the ten C.A.R.E. habit tools is built in four sections, R, I, S, E, and the commitment made at Elevate is what the C.A.R.E. Profile™ reads. C.A.R.E. is what you develop. The RISE Method™ is how you develop it, and how you move. See the full grid of sixteen questions.

Questions about the RISE Method™

What does RISE stand for?

Recognise, Interpret, Strategise, Elevate. British spelling is canonical. The four stages run in order, though a transition often loops back to Interpret as new information arrives.

Who is the RISE Method™ for?

African professional women who are in a career transition or considering one. That includes industry shifts, moves from corporate to entrepreneurship, strategic repositioning, re-entry after a pause, and global-professional moves.

How is it different from ordinary career advice?

Most career advice is culturally neutral, which makes it culturally incomplete. The RISE Method™ treats culture as the primary analytical lens rather than background context, and it requires a diagnosis before a plan. Strategy follows from the reading, never the other way round.

How long does a RISE transition take?

There is no fixed duration, because the stages are not time-boxed. The 90-Day Transition Runway™ applies the method across three phases, Foundation, Activation, and Momentum, for women who want a defined timeline.

Can I use the RISE Method™ on my own?

Yes. The nine free diagnostics walk through all four stages without any purchase. Completing any one of them also grants access to Inside RISE, the member hub, where your progress is scored across the four stages.

Does the RISE Method™ only apply to a whole transition?

No. It runs at two scales. Applied to a transition it sequences the move itself over months. Applied inside a domain of the C.A.R.E. Framework™ it sequences development over weeks, and each of the ten habit tools is built in the same four phases, ending in a specific commitment at Elevate.

Which stage do most transitions fail at?

Interpret. Women commonly recognise that something has to change and move straight to planning, without reading the cultural and structural conditions the plan has to survive. A strategy built on an unread environment is the most common cause of a stalled move.

Start at Recognise.
